Cassie took 3 bites of food on Friday morning, I was so excited but it was short lived, she decided she is not ready to eat solids yet and is still on a food strike...just wants her bottle. Agh!!

Saturday we went to Mayfair Mall to pass some time and of course look at baby clothes. We also ate lunch at PF Changs (Yum!!) After the mall we went to our friends house for dinner. This is the couple who adopted the boy from Russia, we only stayed for a couple of hours because it was drawing near to bed time but it was nice hanging out with them. We pretty much just sit on the living floor and watch the kids play.

Cassie and Maxim

Today Cassie took a 3 hour nap and then we went to the park. Daddy went down the slide with Cass, I can't help but laugh because Daddy really looks wedged in that slide and Cassie looks petrified.

Getting ready to go down the slide!

She looks like a wild woman with her hair!

We headed home and I went grocery shopping while Cass stayed with Daddy. She went to bed around 8, we ate Enchildas and now its time to hit the hay!

Call to the doctor

So I called the pediatrician today to talk to them about Cass not eating solids and only wanting the bottle...I couldn't wait till Friday, I needed to confirm I am doing everything right and I have nothing to worry about. They said this is totally normal for a teething baby to refuse solids and just want the bottle, its better she is refusing solids rather than the bottle because she is getting the most imporant thing that she needs right now...the formula. They are not concerned and said its not worth battling her, keep offering and eventually she will start to take them again. That puts my mind at ease.

Sassy Cassie

Nothing much new for today, we bought a new camera on Sunday so today I read and messed around with it...I think I am getting the hang of it. We figured why spend money on JCPenny shoots when we could do it ourselves so we invested in a nice camera...and I am really enjoying it. Cassie is still not eating her solids well, her tooth has popped thru but she still just wants her bottle...maybe she has a third tooth coming in??? If she doesn't start eating better at the end of this week I am going to call her doctor and see if they have any ideas. Sassy, Sassy Sassy Cassie!!!

A night on the town

Last night we went to Splash, a martini bar that is in town for a surprise birthday party. Matts mom came over to babysit. We did get Cass down to sleep before we left, otherwise I think she would have had a meltdown if we would have left her. She was very crabby this past week and just wants Mommy and Daddy. I had a Cosmolitan and a Strawberry-Kiwi Martini....oh they were so yummy!!....BUT 2 is my limit!! It was a nice night out, however when we got back home Cassie was up and crying, it took me about 30-45 min to calm her down and get her back to sleep. She did take a bottle so I don't know if she was hungry and her gums are bothering her. Poor baby Cass...

And now some pictures from the past week:

Playdate and New Word

Yesterday we had our play date with Maxim. You would never know that he is adopted, he has adjusted so well and knows who his Mommy is. He walked over and pulled Cassie's hair and in turn she took a toy and hit him on the head...I think its love. :o) We really hit it off and plan on having dinner with our hubby's in the future.

First experience with a balloon

Cassie is still refusing solid foods, she has been pulling on her ear and also has a bit of a rash on her face...from what I have read is all signs of teething. We were able to pry open her mouth last night to look and sure enough...another tooth is popping thru. She has been a cranky girl this week.

This is almost better then a ball!

Cassie has a new word....its "Rah" I do not know what it means but she becomes very animated and excited when saying it!

New Play Date Friend!!

Today I had a few errands to run after Cassie woke up from her nap. Ummmm...and yes, she is still on a food strike, she did better today than yesterday so maybe that means its coming to an end. I had to return a gallon of milk to the store because it wasn't sealed and get some dog food. I then had to run to the vet for urinary inconitence pills for my dog, I ran out this weekend and we had some leaking issues :o)

I had time to spare so I stopped at my grandparents house, behind them is a couple about our age and they just adopted a baby boy from Russia, they have been home for 3 weeks. I wanted to meet her so my Grandma and I walked over, my goodness is that boy ever cute. He has beautiful brown hair and big brown eyes, he is 17 months old and his name is Maxim. We talked for a short while and it turns out she did IVF and became pregnant but then lost the baby, she didn't want to go thru that again so they adopted. He is the sweetest thing and she was so nice...we have a play date set up for Thursday. I quess they don't want to take him around tons of people because the adoption agency said should spend alot of alone time with them so they become bonded and he knows who Mommy and Daddy are, but from what I saw he is doing great and was already attached to her. I told her that we would like to adopt our next child as well. I can't wait to meet her on Thursday and talk more about everything.

10 Months old

Yesterday Cassie turned 10 months old...hard to beleive in two months she will be 1 year old!! She has been kinda crabby the past 2 days and she is refusing to eat any solid food, she only wants her bottle. The only thing I can think of is she must be having another tooth that is getting ready to pop up and her mouth is hurting. I am just trying not to push her and roll with what she wants and doesn't want. I was also up with her from 3-4 this morning...very unusual for her. She went down late for a nap today and was pretty cranky. Hope she wakes up happier.

Yesterday I met my friend Jackie for lunch. She is such a great friend and I am so blessed to have her. We can talk about anything. Yesterday we talked about our friend Monica who passed away a couple months ago from Cancer. Its so hard to beleive she is gone but we know she is with the Lord and we will see her again. Monica was sassy...and we loved her for that. :o)

After lunch I went to my parents house and also brought Athena. We went for a walk to the park and Athena got to do all her favorite things.... run, chase geese and swim. She was a happy tired pooch.

Her first trip to 5 Guys

This is what Cassie does when at her highchair - throws off EVERYTHING she can get her hands on and makes a huge mess.

This yellow "banger" is her favorite toy. It belongs to a piano but she uses it to bang on anything and anyone. It goes everywhere with us

Ok, I finally have some time to sit down and post. We had a really fun weekend, Matt got home early on Friday so we went out to eat at a restaurant in Delafield. It was really our first big dinner out with Cassie at a sit down restaurant and it was pretty busy. We usually eat at places where if she gets crabby we can just pack up our food and go. It was about 6:00 and a Friday so it was pretty packed, Cass just sat in her high chair, pulled apart a muffin and threw it on the ground along with all her toys and anything else she could get her hands on. It was really a nice dinner.

Saturday we ran some errands, went out to lunch and stopped at Grandma and Grandpa Roseks house. On our way home we saw the street dance was going on, it was only around 6 so we stopped and pushed Cassie around in her stroller and ate pretzels and buttery/salty corn on the cob...Mmmmmm. Cassie loved seeing all the people and started dancing in her stroller when the band played. It was a nice long day of busy fun.

Sunday we went out to eat AGAIN, this time at 5 Guys. Their burgers are fab!!

I have pics to post but we are having problems with our picture software so hopefully I can post some soon.

Standing

Cassie is standing...only for a few seconds. Her balance isn't very good yet but she is working on it!! She loves standing at the window seat and watching the cars go by with her big doggy.

Hanging with the cousins

Yesterday morning we hung out with Cassies 2nd cousins and great aunt. She loved the kids, was smiley and happy as could be. We went to Imagination Station - that place is awsome for kids. We pushed Cassie on the baby swings and then sat out on the blanket under the shade. It wasn't long before she started getting crabby and was ready for her nap.

Nice and Clean after a bath

Later in the day we ran out to Target to get some new PJs - time for 12 month old sizes! Can't beleive it.

Clap, Clap Clap....

Yep - Cassie decided to start clapping yesterday. We were at Grandma and Grandpa Roseks house and Grandpa clapped - she followed suit. Yea!! She is now on a clapping kick. I walked thru the door yesterday after going grocery shopping and she got a huge smile on her face and started clapping, ahhhh melt my heart. She is also making a bunch of new sounds...I can't describe them...and also blowing bubbles with her spit. hee hee hee. Its amazing how she is doing new things day to day.

My brother is back in CA, he left on Sunday morning. Its always nice to hang out when he is home, I miss not being able to do that.

We were supposed to go to Childrens Hospital today to see the speech department however, we are rescheduling because Matt would like to come as well...but also we think she is doing just fine with speech/hearing. Her hearing is fine, she reacts and does everything a baby should in regards to hearing, Speech- she is saying "Ma Ma" and a bunch of other sounds. If we had concerns we would go but I know we would drive down there and be told everything is fine and I really don't want to make the drive for that. Down the road we may go as children with cleft palates may need speech therapy but right now we don't see a need for it.

She still is not interested in finger food - she will put some stuff to her mouth and lick it but thats about it. The dog knows she will get it all and waits patiently for Cassie to whip it off the highchair. Sigh....

Mmmm...Athena knows she will get this graham cracker

Patiently waiting....at least I don't have to pick up after her -the dog takes care of it for me.
